Wine

This Is An Art. And A Very Competitive Business

It takes about six to eight clusters, or approximately 600 to 800 wine grapes (2.4 pounds or 1.1 kilograms) to make a bottle of wine. One barrel of wine contains approximately 740 pounds (336 kilograms) of grapes, equivalent to 59 gallons (223.3 liters) or 24.6 cases of wine.

Vineyards produce yields of from 2 – 6 tons (2 — 6 kilograms) per acre with some growers pruning the vines down to 1 – 3 tons (1 – 3 kilograms) per acre for higher sugar content. With wholesale grape prices ranging from $100 to $12,000 +/- U.S. per ton and up for premium grapes, each year is a gamble for everyone involved. The last thing you can afford is cross contamination from mold or other microorganisms that can threaten the harvest, the crush or the aging process.

Nearly 70 wineries have discovered how to lower that risk by installing an Airocide® bioconversion system.
